On November 12, 2008, the 1000th individual registered to become a member of the Franciscan Action Network (FAN).
This milestone is exciting, given FAN did not exist 8 months ago. The milestone encourages us to grow the network! It encourages us to more fully live out our collective call to be an instrument of social transformation.
To increase our potential impact, we Franciscans need to be louder in expressing the need for social transformation. Being louder is not about shouting. It is about increasing the number of people speaking a coordinated message to power. In his reflection, Fr. Larry Janezic, OFM speaks from the heart of personal experience.
We also need to be in better touch with our Franciscan message. We believe, at our core, that we have a gift to share. This light is not to be hidden. Click here to read why a Franciscan Action Network is so urgently needed.
The real action we all hope for cannot happen without you. As a member of this growing movement for social transformation, only you have the ability to welcome others into the effort. Please do this by personally inviting 10 people (or more) to join you in the Franciscan Action Network.
Invite the Franciscan friars, sisters or seculars you know to add their voices to our growing chorus. Invite lay-persons from your ministry. All who have a Franciscan-heart are welcomed.
With the new President and the new Congress, next year offers a great prospect for change. If you help grow this effort, we will impact the lives of persons who are poor. We will better care for creation, the unborn, and the immigrant. We will learn to speak better and louder the Franciscan call for transformation.

FAN is continuing our invitation to prayer, reflection and action in relation to the ongoing worldwide economic crisis.

We are continuing our Action Alert, calling on the current Congress to return in the months of November and December to work on solutions for those struggling with home foreclosures and unemployment (member login required). Please take action today if you have not done so.
Finally, we invite you to invite others to become members of FAN. If we are going to make an impact, we must grow the number of Franciscan and Franciscan-hearted people engaged in the work of the Franciscan Action Network.
